• This course on Cinema Studies is based on the series of 10 one-hour videos and two companion textbooks produced by PBS and the American Film Institute (AFI). It surveys the history of American cinema from the 1930s to present, examining the social, artistic, and economic aspects of the film industry. The instructor will provide additional lectures on the earlier history of cinema.
  • Movies produced by the Disney studios provide students with an entertaining way to approach the study of literature. Students in this course can explore the nature of fairy tales and myth as these have developed over the course of time into the modern world. Also, students will learn how to easily identify character archetypes and to predict certain roles.
